BBC News - Manchester Terror Attacks
The BBC Breaking News (23rd
May 2017 02:00) topic is from the Northwest of England, the Manchester terror attacks
on the 22nd May 2017.
There was an explosion in Manchester
Arena outside the venue of Ariana Grande’s concert, in public place between the main arena and neighbouring Victoria railway
station. The explosion occurred at the end of Ariana Grande’s concert. Train
services have been suspended
BBC News interviews an
eyewitness of the attack, Imran, who was outside the venue at 22.10 to pick up his wife and daughter. At 22.28 he
texted her and she told him that Ariana Grande had just finished performing her
last song and she was on her way out. Minutes later, when they were walking
towards him, he heard the bomb exploded. At first, he thought that the loud
scream came from the teenagers, too excited to see their idol. But then his
daughter came to him screaming and crying and he had just understood what happened.
He took two and a half hours to get home. His wife and daughter had trauma. His
wife imagined if she and her daughter were out several minutes later, they
could have been split.
In the video we could
see that the place where the bomb exploded was the exit door for the concert,
leading to the car park and Victoria Station. People were scrambling for the arena's exits, screaming, crying, pushing each other. The explosion caused widespread panic. The concert was just finished and fans started making their way home. There were
many police cars around the station. British police considered this attack as
terrorism. So far, 19 dead and 50 injured.
